Porto-based fado progressive metal singer PAULA TELES returns forcefully to the scene with “EntreParedes,” the new album scheduled to be released as CD and digitally on April 30th via Ethereal Sound Works.
“EntreParedes” proves to be a mature album with multiple meanings. Through seven new songs, it celebrates the centenary of Carlos Paredes - the greatest Portuguese guitarist of all time.
The song “II Acto” is now available as a foretaste of what you may expect from the album. It is a very meaningful song, dedicated to the Carnation Revolution, a coup d'état organized by the Armed Forces Movement (MFA), a group of left-wing Portuguese military officers. With the support of the population, the military overthrew the regime of dictator António de Oliveira Salazar, changing the future of Portugal.

Maintaining the melodic beauty of her previous album, PAULA TELES seeks, with this new work, an approach that is less easy on the ears. With the Portuguese guitar always present, “EntreParedes” is a more progressive one, with a great focus of tension and drama. The seven brand-new songs invite us to reflect on past events from which we can learn so that we don't make mistakes in the future. Tomorrow will not be the same…
“EntreParedes” plunges listeners into a visceral battle between PAULA TELES’ extraordinary voice, evocative lyrics, and the relentless force of progressive metal - culminating in 28 minutes of total immersion and unrelenting emotional tension.
In the last decade, traditional Fado has been mixed with modern sounds thanks to the name of PAULA TELES. Born in Sousela (a village in the district of Porto), the singer and composer has, in addition to a degree in Theatre Singing and Piano, a past linked to Rock and Metal (Waterland, Heyhel, and Lilith's Revenge). The performer's story has a musical evolution that culminates in her solo project which presents you a whole new world to explore: the melancholy of fado combined with the power of metal.
