Portugal’s death & thrash metal entities CULT OF ALCAEUS and NECRO ALGORITHM are excited to share with old and new fans their split-album “Doomed Algorithms,” released as CD and digital on January 31st via Nova Era Records. Consisting of 7 brand-new tracks for half an hour of musical experience, “Doomed Algorithms” merges from the raw energy of Death, Thrash and Groove Metal of the ‘90s with dark, apocalyptic themes and a dystopian, futuristic aesthetic.

CULT OF ALCAEUS is more than just a metal band - it's a sonic representation of humanity's collision course with chaos. Born from the grit and fire of Portugal, they channel the raw energy of Death, Thrash, and Groove Metal into a force that reflects the world as we see it: dark, dystopian, and on the brink of collapse.
The band recently released a trilogy of singles called “Doomed Cycles” through digital platforms. The theory of “Doomed Cycles” refers to repetitive and inevitable patterns of destruction and reconstruction that lead to an inevitable end, always associated with decay and collapse. In the distant future, those who are aware of this theory may no longer want progress or evolution as a being.
The band’s latest music video, “Forged By Rage,” is a visual and sonic manifesto. It explores how modern society molds personalities to embrace rage as a survival mechanism - a reflection of the aggressive states we all find ourselves in. It’s raw, visceral, and undeniably us.
CULT OF ALCAEUS isn’t here to offer comfort. They’re here to confront, to challenge, and to make you feel every pulse of the world’s collapse through our sound. The word Alcaeus is the latinized form of the Greek name Ἀλκαῖος (Alkaios) meaning “strong,” derived from ἀλκή (alke) meaning “strength, prowess, and skill”.
NECRO ALGORITHM weaves together more than sound – it crafts a meditation on existence itself. The project dares to ask the unanswerable: who we are, and what is our place in the vast, indifferent expanse? The band offers more than music: it invites you to transcend the ordinary, to lose yourself in a hypnotic spiral of philosophy and metal, where every note reflects the human condition. The death/thrash aggression of its songs serves as a vehicle for deeper questions about reality, meaning, and mortality. NECRO ALGORITHM isn’t just music – it’s a cathartic reckoning with existence, where each listener is invited to confront the echoes of eternity.
